China Becomes The Largest Leather Importer In Brazil
According to the raw leather export data released by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Department, raw leather exports in March increased by 19.5% compared with February, with a total export volume of US$161.2 million. In terms of export area, 20.2 million square meters were exported in March, an increase of 17.2% year-on-year.
In terms of value, finished leather accounted for 59.1% of the total export value of the leather industry in March, wet blue leather accounted for 29.9%, crust leather accounted for 6.9%, and split leather accounted for 3.9%. From January to March this year, Brazil's exports of salted wet leather and wet blue leather increased by 32.6% and 2.9% year-on-year respectively. During the same period, crust leather and finished leather exports fell by 38.8% and 3.3% respectively.
China, including Hong Kong, accounted for 31.2% of Brazil's total PU leather exports, followed by Italy, accounting for 16.4%, the United States accounted for 15.3%, and Vietnam accounted for 8.7%.
